History
Arthur's needless (if heroic) death at the guns of the first berserker Death Stinger left Ray angry with the Empire's methods and their experimental Zoids; he received the news even as he and a platoon broke into an Empire factory, finding two experimental and unarmored Zoids. After the dinosaur-type took to stomping on his Shield Liger DCS-J, Ray opted to steal the undefended lion-type, his subordinates buying him time with their lives. Further disgusted, this time with himself, he rallied his stolen Zero and fought nekkid-style tooth and claw and charged particle cannon with the Fury.
Mid-battle, Ray caught a glimpse of its pilot—a man he'd later know as Wolff, at the time merely Prozen's son rather than Emperor. Hesitating at Wolff's sorrowful expression (which he described as though Wolff was another man "who had lost important people"), he let him and the Fury escape along with the small Zoid the base had been protecting (apparently the key to a proper OS interface with Zoids like Death Stinger). Ray, remembering how Arthur died, was left wondering if he'd die by that small Zoid...or at Wolff's hands.
Their rivalry became a bitter one when Ray and a force containing newly-armored Zeros were pitted against a group of Death Stinger KFD that included one piloted by Anna Tarres, Wolff's close childhood friend. Ray was understandably eager for a chance to fight the mecha responsible for Arthur's death, and in turn Anna and her companions were quickly defeated. The Stingers self-destructed to keep them out of Republic (and Guylos, as this was part of the Zenebas revival plan) hands, leaving Anna dead and Wolff haunted by the image of Ray's Zero tearing his friend's Zoid apart.
Some stuff with Bloody Demon goes here DAMMIT MOMO TRANSLATE IT ;_;.
Ray, seeing the war drag on and feeling keenly responsible for letting Wolff escape earlier, took it upon himself to confront him again during the Republic attempt to retake their capital. Smuggling in a Liger Zero and Phoenix armor for it, he fought Wolff's Energy Liger one on one and lost...only to have a Jet Falcon show up and fuse with his Liger to help him strike a finishing blow. Wolff's Energy Liger proceeded to overload, threatening both sides' armies and a city full of mostly Helic citizens. Neither of them wanting a repeat of Prozen's explosive death, Ray and Wolff worked together in the end, stopping the explosion and presumably paving the way for peace between the factions.
